Air Cadet Online Ground

Air Cadet Online Ground School

  1. The pandemic highlighted the value of virtual training as an interactive online learning approach that allows us to deliver training in an equitable fashion to cadets across the country. The virtual method will now be used with Air Cadets applying for the Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC) and the Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC), making aviation training available to every squadron in Canada.
  2. The Commander CJCR is pleased to announce that, following a competitive bidding process, a contract has been awarded to PAL Aerospace/Moncton Flight College to deliver ground school training via an online and bilingual learning platform. PAL Aerospace/Moncton Flight College is one of the largest and most experienced flight training schools in Canada with over 300 years of cumulative aviation experience.
  3. Any Air Cadet who intends to apply for GPTC or PPTC must complete the entire 45 hours of online ground school and the selection exam by 15 January 2022. Squadrons may continue to offer their own ground school, but cadets may only challenge the examination upon completion of the national online ground school course. The eligibility requirements for the online training are the same as those for the GPTC and PPTC and the course can accommodate up to 4000 trainees at a time, in English or French, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  4. Training will start 1 October 2021 and contact the office to register

  1. Eligible cadets are to register for the OGS that corresponds with the pilot training course they intend to apply for in the summer and must not be registered for both GPTC and PPTC OGS.  Once registered, they will be automatically enrolled in the OGS.  Northwest cadets can now be registered in Fortress using the applicable serial detailed in the below table:

RDA Activity / Activité Serial /Session
Northwest Air Cadet Online Ground School – Glider Pilot
Formation théorique de pilotage à distance des Cadets de l’Air – Pilote de planeur
OGS-Glider

  1. Login information will be sent from (MFC) Training Pelesys system directly to the cadet.  Therefore, squadron staff and cadets must ensure the cadet’s email address recorded in Fortress is correct since that email address will be used to send the log in information.  If a cadet has registered but has not received the log in email by 15 Oct 21, or has been registered to the wrong course, the cadet should contact their Chain of Command at the squadron immediately for corrective measures.

  1. Once the online training session has started, cadets cannot move between ground school serials.  The OGS course can accommodate up to 4000 trainees at a time, in English or French, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so there is no limit to the number of cadets per squadron who can enroll in the OGS, as long as they meet the prerequisites for GPTC/PPTC.
