Cyber Patriot Competition
Key bullet points:
ž CyberPatriot outline : At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, which puts teams (5 cadets per team) in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. Through a series of online competition rounds, teams are given a set of virtual operating systems and are tasked with finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining critical services. ž Ideal Candidate: Open to all cadets, but as this is a competition, the ideal candidate has a background manipulating Win-10 & Linux OS.
Cadets who have successfully graduated the vCTC Cyber courses would be ideal candidates. During the pilot program in Jan ’21, most cadets who had little cyber systems experience found the pressures of the competition beyond their comfort level.
ž Deadline for registration in Fortress is 30 Sept (ser to be built once Wng O launched). As CJCR is procuring a block of 600 billets (120 for NW), extensions will be granted, but any unfilled NW billets will default to other regions 05 Oct. The CyberPatriot program has a cut-off for registration of 01 Nov, but that would negate any opportunity for training with coaches.
